We tried doing something similar with the apple butter recordings (remember Ravi?):
We tried to map the tempo changes of one part to get the meters so we could layout a shaker part perfectly (which was horribly off). It's possible, I just couldn't figure it out.
I'm hoping we won't need to do silly shit like that to finish the recordings.by Peter on 3/5/2009

i was thinking we could use that program on our own songs and overdub a click track after the fact once we know how fast each part is. sounds pretty easy to me...

Well if John Bonham and Ringo don't use click tracks...I won't use a click!
Interesting read, I'd fully agree that click tracks produce sterile sounding songs. So in retrospect, I'm glad we did the new recordings without a click. As long as Bruce cuts them up, that is.by Peter on 3/4/2009

i am fucking proud to sing over this verse - it sounds great. (josh, feel free to scream numbers the whole time. all the band members should do it louder each time).
RAVI PLEASE BRING YOUR KEYBOARD, I THINK IT COULD SOUND GREAT WITH THIS SONG.
the chicky chicky is good, we just need to make it super-tight and professional as shit.
i like that josh holds back on the drums during the "chorus." we need to all get onboard with that, i think if i play it in 7 it will be easier to write over. then we can add the small repetition at the end that keeps everyone so confused... after that we'll repeat the verse again but in lieu of a chicky chicky go straight into another chorus with josh laying down those rides instead of holding back... after that who knows?
and uh, i really want you, luke, to start singing because you never know when you'll stumble on a good vocal line that might give you a good guitar part... in other words: youre singin' with me, so sing with me.
i really like this song!by Bruce on 2/21/2009

There's some very cool stuff going on here...the chicky chicky part sounds much more interesting. Is this the entire song? or are we adding more parts?

Yeah the vamp definitely makes more sense hearing it in context with the vocals.
by Peter on 2/17/2009

ive been working on it, ill have something together by next practice (for the new verse). i do wanna keep the vamp as much as possible though, i think your guitar work keeps it fresh... thanks for the conversion dawgus

Bruce: your singing is improving a lot. About halfway through the song it's really working. You just have to make sure you open your mouth (don't mumble) and sing with confidence.
What does it sound like if you sing your "verse" over the chord progression instead of the vamp, does it work at all?by Peter on 2/16/2009

Oh I think the format needs to be MP3 for it to work. I just converted it and re-uploaded.

bruce, the annie og version won't play for me, not really sure why

pete, the vamp sounds wonderful with that added guitar. we'll just need to work on the structure, but you've got a pretty good foundation for us. paul is and ravi (hopefully on KEYBOARD) will help this song gain strength. josh wants to sing, lets hold him to that.

Luke said he'll add some guitar once Bruce adds the vocals. I added the guitar part at the vamp section.
by Peter on 2/16/2009
so we should teach simon the cool overdub that ravi recorded in the studio, that will sound badass.
